"The Clock Cannot Be Turned Back": Lebanon Won’t Capitulate to Hezbollah’s Intimidation Tactics

Hezbollah has once again resorted to its old tactics of asserting internal dominance, spreading chaos, and destabilizing the country, according to the Kataeb Party. In a strongly worded statement, the party slammed the group’s motorized parades across several regions on Sunday night as a "blatant provocation to citizens."

“These citizens, who not long ago welcomed and supported their fellow southerners with open arms, now face actions that reaffirm this party-militia's persistence in pursuing its destructive agenda, one that threatens the foundations of the state and citizenship,” the statement read.

The Kataeb Party described such acts as a desperate attempt to compensate for the failure of Hezbollah's political and military gambles and the collapse of what it referred to as the group’s “hollow slogans.”

The statement also highlighted that these actions jeopardize Lebanon’s stability during a time when the Lebanese people are striving for peace and adherence to the rule of law.

Reiterating its stance against the use of force to impose political control, the Kataeb Party warned that any attempts to return Lebanon to an era of intimidation and subjugation would be met with strong resistance.

“Attempts to subjugate the Lebanese people by force, as happened during the infamous events of May 2008 and other similar instances, are now a thing of the past and will not be allowed to recur,” the party stated emphatically.

“The clock cannot be turned back,” the party affirmed.

The party also dismissed any attempts to use street pressure or intimidation tactics to alter internal dynamics, impose political and ministerial gains, and revive outdated compromises in the upcoming government's mission statement.

In its message, the Kataeb Party called on Lebanon’s official institutions, including security agencies and judicial bodies, to act decisively in order to curb Hezbollah’s provocative actions and prevent further escalation.

“We are at the start of a new era in Lebanon's history, one in which the Lebanese place great hopes for the restoration of sovereignty, law, and constitutional principles,” the statement emphasized. “These reckless actions threaten the very foundations of this promising era.”

The party urged swift and firm action to put an end to what it called “sectarian provocations” by addressing them with the full force of the law. It emphasized the need for state institutions to uphold their responsibilities in ensuring security and stability for all Lebanese citizens.
