Candidate for Maronite seat in Keserwan Ftouh - Jbeil Selim Sayegh on Sunday slammed the current ruling authority for destroying Lebanon, saying that they are fighting a battle against this system and they will ruin it.
“I belong to a party that thinks about the country, and we have an electoral platform of 178 practical steps,” Sayegh said in an interview with LBCI.
“I was exposed to important experiences when I was a minister. I call you to hold me accountable in the upcoming elections and inspect the ministry’s records,” he noted.
"Based on a great national vision, we must start by delivering a political group to the Parliament that gives confidence to the people the alternative is a serious alternative contrary to power, rejecting feudalism, clientelism, family, party services and corruption, this feudalism that has hit the region and promised people to live on the margins of the state,” he pointed out.
"We have taken the decision dictated by our conscience. What did the Parliament achieve?" he asked.
Sayegh called on the Lebanese people to cast their votes on May 15, saying that the voter should think of an alternative so as to topple this ruling system.
“We must incite people so that their anger does not turn into frustration rather into a positive and bold action as the people who took to the streets must come down once after May 15 and say "enough" for the system that destroyed Lebanon,” he pointed out.
“Regarding the return of displaced Syrians, we have carried the return of displaced Syrians to Russia and the Russians have linked it to a political solution. The regulations of public security should be unified, “he said.
Sayegh stressed the rejection of Syrian social integration in Lebanon, which poses a threat to the Lebanese identity as well as Syria, demanding the immediate return of Syrians.
"Whoever wants to come to Lebanon, let him come with a work permit,” he noted.
"There are 26 private schools that are subject to closure in Keserwan-Jbeil district and we are in contact with parents' committees and the first reason is that 40% of the school budget is for the purchase of fuel," he affirmed.
He also stressed the absence of survey of jobs in Lebanon. Sayegh said that he took over the Ministry of Social Affairs in 2009, recalling that he took over her bag and carried out the largest percentage of projects without any penalty.
"We have done projects all over Lebanon and no one was against me because I am not corrupt,” he affirmed.
He deemed political pluralism among Christians as good saying that if some Maronites decide to ally with Hezbollah to stabilize their positions, they are alienated from the church's political, social and national teachings and in alienation from the patriarch's guidance.
“Regarding the dispute with the Lebanese forces, we share with them a lot of things but they entered into the settlement that we rejected, as they tried to outsmart Hezbollah at a time when the it should not be smart rather confront this armed militia," he added.
"Sooner or later, after Hezbollah recognizes Lebanon as a final country, one authority and a Lebanese state, we will rebuild this country together," he concluded.
