Two rockets were fired from Lebanon into northern Israel on Friday, triggering warning sirens in border communities, the Israeli military said.
According to the Israeli army, one of the rockets was intercepted by the country’s air defense system, while the second landed inside Lebanese territory. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The incident marked the second cross-border attack within a week, following the launch of three rockets toward the Israeli town of Metula on March 22.
A senior Hezbollah source told Al-Mayadeen channel that the group had nothing to do with the rockets launched from southern Lebanon earlier today.
The source alleged that the recent rocket fire from Lebanon appears to be “part of a suspicious attempt to create pretexts for Israel to continue its aggression against Lebanon.”

In response, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stark warning, drawing a direct link between security in northern Israel and Lebanon’s capital.
“The fate of Kiryat Shmona is the same as the fate of Beirut,” Katz said. “If there is no peace in Israel’s northern border communities, there will be no peace in Beirut either.”
He placed full responsibility on the Lebanese government, stating that authorities in Beirut bear “direct responsibility for any attacks on the Galilee.”
“We will ensure the security of Galilee residents and will act forcefully against any threat,” he vowed.
Following the rocket fire, Israeli forces launched a series of airstrikes and artillery bombardments on multiple towns in southern Lebanon, targeting both civilian and strategic sites amid escalating border tensions.
The town of Khyam came under intense artillery and white phosphorus shelling, while Israeli troops carried out sweeping operations from the Hamamsa hilltop, with heavy gunfire heard across nearby villages.

In Kfarkila, artillery rounds struck near the town’s cemetery, while an Israeli drone reportedly dropped bombs on a café in central Houla. Shelling was also reported in Taybeh, Kafarsir, and the river area near Qaquaiya Bridge.
Meanwhile, Israeli reconnaissance aircraft were seen flying over villages in the western and central sectors, reaching the outskirts of Tyre, as tensions continued to mount along the border.
Later in the day, the Israeli army said that 15 Hezbollah targets were hit on Friday, including a building in Beirut which the group used as a drone storage site.
