Hezbollah Reneging on Surrendering Its Arms

Now Hezbollah is reneging on its ceasefire promise, moving the goalposts, and reversing the order by saying that Israeli withdrawal comes first, then it might consider disarming.

Israeli Airstrike Targets Hezbollah Drone Storage Facility in Beirut Suburb
Israel launched an airstrike on a building in Beirut’s southern suburbs on Friday, hours after issuing an evacuation warning for the area. This marks the first such incident since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah in November.
Israeli warplanes fired two missiles at the targeted building in Hadath, completely destroying it. The Israeli military confirmed that the strike targeted a Hezbollah drone storage facility operated by Unit 127, the group’s aerial force. According to the IDF, the facility stored explosive-laden drones intended for attacks on Israel, as well as surveillance drones used for intelligence gathering. The military held Unit 127 responsible for past drone attacks and reconnaissance missions targeting Israel.
“Hezbollah has placed its terror infrastructure within civilian areas, demonstrating once again the group's cynical strategy of using Lebanese citizens as human shields,” the Israeli army statement said.
Beirut’s southern suburbs, known as Dahiyeh, have long been a Hezbollah stronghold and were heavily bombed during last year’s conflict, which saw the deaths of several top Hezbollah leaders, including its chief, Hassan Nasrallah.
About an hour before the airstrike, a limited drone strike, believed to be a warning shot or marking the target, hit the building. Security sources said this was likely intended to alert residents and Hezbollah members of the impending strike.
A senior Hezbollah official denied the group’s involvement in Friday’s rocket attack, echoing their denial of responsibility for a previous rocket salvo into northern Israel on March 22. Hezbollah claimed these incidents were being used as pretexts to justify continued Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam described the first Israeli airstrike on southern Beirut since the November ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah as a "dangerous escalation," criticizing "Israeli strikes targeting civilians and residential areas, including locations where schools and universities are located."
