The Israeli military issued an evacuation warning for a building and surrounding area in Beirut’s southern suburbs on Friday, ahead of an airstrike targeting a Hezbollah facility in the Lebanese capital.
In a post on X, the Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesman, Col. Avichay Adraee, shared a map pinpointing the location of the building, urging civilians to evacuate at least 300 meters away for their safety.
“To everyone present in the building marked in red as shown on the map and the buildings adjacent to it: You are near facilities belonging to Hezbollah,” Adraee wrote. “For your safety and the safety of your families, you must evacuate these buildings immediately and distance yourselves from them.”
The warning came after two rockets were launched from Lebanon toward the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona earlier in the day. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz responded with a pointed statement, saying, “The fate of Kiryat Shmona is the same as the fate of Beirut,” in what appeared to be a direct threat to the Lebanese capital.
This marks the first time since November 27 that the Israeli army has issued warnings ahead of strikes in Beirut.
