Israeli Officials Warn Lebanese Government: Enforce Ceasefire or Face Military Action

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday pledged to continue military strikes across Lebanon in response to any threats, signaling Israel’s unyielding stance in the face of escalating tensions.

“Today, those who have yet to accept the new reality in Lebanon witnessed another demonstration of our resolve,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

“The equation has shifted: what happened before October 7 will not happen again,” he emphasized, adding that Israel would not tolerate any attacks on its communities, no matter how small.

“We will not allow any firing on our communities, not even a drizzle,” he stressed.

“We will continue to enforce the ceasefire with unwavering force,” Netanyahu warned. “We will strike anywhere in Lebanon where there is a threat to Israel, and we will ensure the safety of all those in the north, so they can return to their homes without fear.”

Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, also ssued a stern warning to Lebanon following the airstrike on Beirut. He emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that the Israeli army will carry out additional strikes on the Lebanese capital if Lebanon fails to enforce the ceasefire agreement.

“I send a clear message to the Lebanese government: If you do not enforce the ceasefire agreement, we will,” Katz said, implying that Israel would not hesitate to escalate its military operations if the situation remains unresolved.

“As I said, the fate of Kiryat Shmona is the same as Beirut. If there is no peace in Kiryat Shmona and in the Galilee communities, there will be no peace in Beirut,” he said in a statement.

Katz further warned that any attempt to harm Israeli communities in the Galilee region would result in retaliatory actions.

"For any attempt to harm the Galilee communities, the roofs of homes in Beirut’s southern suburbs will shake,” he warned.
