Hakim Presses for Comprehensive Aviation Reform and Second Airport for Lebanon

Kataeb Political Bureau member and former Minister, Alain Hakim, highlighted the need to reevaluate existing agreements and the pressing necessity for a second airport in Lebanon in the absence of a clear and comprehensive legal framework governing aviation.

Hakim pointed out that, without a definitive legal structure, the management and regulation of air traffic are governed by the sovereignty of Lebanon in consultation with neighboring states. This situation has led to an environment where previous agreements, often made under dominant influences, may no longer adequately serve Lebanon's interests.

"Agreements made under previous foreign occupation must be reassessed by an independent group of experts and in cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization," he wrote on his X account.

Furthermore, Hakim stressed the critical need for Lebanon to establish a second airport, describing this as an "urgent necessity” for Lebanon.
