Former Economy Minister Alain Hakim on Wednesday deemed trading money supply and forcing everyone to accept paying through credit cards as only way to restore normalcy, saying that Food security and purchasing power should be taken into consideration.

“The parliament and cabinet should convene on daily basis so as to find solutions and laws that protect the Lebanese people at this crucial moment. The point of what is happening today is to weaken the purchasing power of the citizen whether it is related to the Lebanese pound or the US dollar,” Hakim said in an interview with MTV.

“Unfortunately, the system is corrupt and it is trying to make the Lebanese bear the burden of all the crises that are hitting the country," he added.
