Kataeb: The People of the Region Yearn for Freedom, Dignity, an End to Futile Wars and Reckless Ventures

The Kataeb's political bureau held its weekly meeting under the chairmanship of party leader Samy Gemayel, and after discussing the recent alarming developments, issued the following statement:

As the war between two theocracies continues on Lebanese soil, the internal scene remains politically and security-wise exposed, leaving the nation vulnerable to all possibilities. Meanwhile, sovereign decision-making has been hijacked, and the national interest is absent, replaced by Iran’s self-serving agenda, which has become a burden on the people and states across the Middle East.

The Kataeb Party reiterates its rejection of this policy of domination, calling on the  House Speaker and the Prime Minister to take a historic stance by opening the doors of Parliament to discuss the decision of war and its consequences. The government, in turn, must make a national decision to unilaterally declare a ceasefire and instruct the Lebanese army to take necessary measures to secure calm on the ground as a prelude to sustainable political and diplomatic solutions.

The Kataeb Party condemns the ongoing campaigns of defamation and accusations of betrayal, which spare no party, individual, position, or institution—most recently, the orchestrated campaign targeting the Lebanese army.

It asserts that this outcry emanating from Hezbollah’s political and media machinery is nothing more than the wailing of a dying entity, calling on security and judicial authorities to pursue those inciting unrest and disturbing civil peace, fulfilling their legal duty to hold them accountable, as the era of threats and intimidation has ended, never to return.

The Kataeb Party commends the statement of Iraq's most senior and revered Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali Al Sistani which emphasizes the rejection of foreign interference and the exclusive control of arms by the state.

It affirms that these demands are not limited to any single nation but have become an existential necessity for the stability and growth of the region’s peoples, who now aspire to freedom and dignified life, rejecting futile wars and reckless ventures.
