Two senior Hezbollah commanders were killed in separate Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon on Saturday, the Israeli military said.
The first strike, that hit the town of Kounine, killed Hassan Mohammad Hamoudi, who the Israeli military said was in charge of Hezbollah’s anti-tank missile unit in the Bint Jbeil area.
Hamoudi had “led numerous anti-tank missile attacks on Israel during the ongoing conflict,” the military added.
Another drone strike targeted a vehicle in the town of Mahrouna, killing Abbas al-Hassan Wehbi, identified by the Israeli military as the head of intelligence in a battalion of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force.
According to a statement by the Israeli military, Wehbi had been involved in “restoring Hezbollah’s operational capabilities” and was actively facilitating weapons transfers. The military described his activities as “a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.”
