Renewal Bloc Announces Its Openness to a Third Presidential Candidate

MPs Michel Mouawad and Fouad Makhzoumi, representing the Renewal Bloc, met with the French Presidential Envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian at the French Embassy in Beirut.

Mouawad and Makhzoumi affirmed the Bloc's stance calling for electing a president to restore order to state institutions, enable Lebanon's active participation in any negotiations to rearrange the region and prevent it from becoming a bargaining chip.

The Bloc emphasized its openness, following the example of opposition forces, to the principle of the third presidential option proposed by Le Drian.

It stressed the importance of adhering to the constitution and international resolutions, specifically 1701, 1680, and 1559, providing the constitutional and international framework to protect Lebanon from the catastrophic consequences of the ongoing war in the region.

It also expressed support for postponing the retirement of the Army Commander General Joseph Aoun to safeguard the military institution and ensure stability in Lebanon.
