A high-level security meeting was held in Riyadh under Saudi sponsorship, bringing together the heads of Lebanese and Syrian intelligence services, sources confirmed to Nidaa Al-Watan.
The meeting, which included Brigadier General Tony Qahwaji, Director of Lebanese Army Intelligence, and General Hussein Al-Salama, Head of Syrian Intelligence, focused on bolstering security coordination between the two countries, particularly along their shared border.
According to informed sources, discussions centered on strengthening border control to prevent the movement of armed groups and to curb potential security flare-ups in either direction. The talks also addressed ways to stabilize the broader security environment and to enhance real-time coordination between the Lebanese and Syrian intelligence agencies.
In addition to border-related concerns, the talks reportedly touched on sensitive issues, most notably, the status of detained Islamists and the recent unrest in Syria’s southern Sweida province.
