Mouawad and Harb Forge Alliance in Batroun

Candidate for the Maronite seat in Batroun Majd Harb on Friday announced partnership and alliance with the Independence Movement, saying that principles brought them together.

“Today, I met with Michel Mouawad and we discussed the need to confront those who cover the occupation. Our principles brought us together, and our hand is extended to all opposition parties,”  Harb said in a press conference.

For his part, Head of Independence Movement Michel Mouawad affirmed that the partnership with Majd Harb was strategic at the prosecution level in order to be a force for parliamentary reform.

“Today's meeting with Majd Harb is founding a strategic partnership in a bid to regain our kidnapped country from the people of weapons, corruption and mafia, and founding a strategic partnership at the prosecution level in order to be a force for parliamentary reform,” he noted.

Mouawad stressed that two Christian leaders were covering Hezbollah's project in the third northern district.

“If we do not bring down weapons and corruption, we will remain just an opposition force, and this matter requires unity and a broad alliance, overcoming selfishness and differences; therefore, we are working on forming a list capable of electoral and political confrontation,” he added.

“There is no succession where there is a ballot box; whoever says so about me and about Majd Harb insults those who elect us, and any citizen has the right to work in public affairs, provided that he is held accountable; but making the battle about families is a huge mistake and the biggest service to the system,” he concluded.
