Mouawad Says He Represents the Option of Sovereignty, State, Reform, Reconciliation among Lebanese

MP Michel Mouawad said that he represented the option of sovereignty, the state, reform, and reconciliation among the Lebanese without any bullying.

“There was no expectation that the first session would produce a president, and 36 MPs voted for Me, in addition to 4 MPs who were absent,” Mouawad said following the presidential election session.

“Consensus cannot be built on weapons or the imposition of ideologies; it can only be built under the roof of the Lebanese state, and I want to reconnect Lebanon with Arab and international legitimacy,” he noted.

“Our economy can only be established when we are part of this world, and my choice is to bring back the Taif Agreement, the Constitution, the state of institutions, expanded decentralization, the independence of the judiciary, and the fight against corruption,” he added.

“Many wish that my name would be undermined, but everyone is serious; a large majority of the opposition gave me their confidence, and I extend my hand to the rest of the opposition, including those who elected "Lebanon" and the MPs for Change, even if we do not agree on all approaches,” he concluded.
