During its weekly meeting, chaired by Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel, the Kataeb Political Bureau discussed the latest developments in Gaza.
After the meeting, the following statement was issued:
1- The Kataeb Political Bureau expresses its concern about any settlements that may be concluded at the expense of Lebanon during a critical moment that may necessitate the redefinition of international resolutions and the regional map simultaneously.
Meanwhile, the country is grappling with the absence of a president who holds the authority to negotiate and shape its course.
The Kataeb Political Bureau warns that Israeli demands to distance Hezbollah from the northern borders, as conveyed by Western envoys, may turn into a bargaining chip where Hezbollah spends its surplus power to achieve gains at the expense of Lebanon, its sovereignty and independence.
The Kataeb Political Bureau emphasizes that any such step will be met firmly with all available resources, stressing the immediate adherence to international resolutions that preserve Lebanon's sovereignty and independence, especially UNSC 1701 in parallel with UNSC 1559 to ensure the absence of illegal weapons outside the legitimate framework.
2- The Kataeb Political Bureau holds the remnants of authority responsible for shirking their constitutional duties, leaving Lebanon and its institutions at the mercy of internal and external whims.
It condemns the transformation of all obligations, the latest being the postponement of the army commander’s dismissal, into a process of finger-pointing, the cost of which is borne by the Lebanese in terms of their security and stability.
The Kataeb Political Bureau reiterates its demand for immediate compliance with the Constitution first and foremost, prioritizing Lebanon's interests above all else.
It calls for the prompt initiation of a power-restructuring process, starting with the election of a sovereign president, free from the unattainable conditions that Hezbollah attempts to impose conditions that have proven to be barren.
3- As the year comes to a close, the Kataeb Political Bureau extends its greetings to the Lebanese people, acknowledging the tinge of pain left by successive crises on their security, stability, and their sense of freedom and independence, especially the economic crisis that has scattered families and forced the youth to leave their homeland in search of freedom and sustenance.
The Kataeb Political Bureau affirms that the Lebanese have the right to live in a full-fledged state that safeguards their full rights, defends their existence and preserves the face of Lebanon that they have become accustomed to and have chosen as the emblem of their identity. This responsibility is one we have not and will not relinquish.
