The Kataeb Party’s Political Bureau held its weekly meeting chaired by Vice President of the Kataeb Party George Jreij. After the meeting, the following statement was issued:

1-The Kataeb Political Bureau considered that South incidents affirmed Hezbollah’s control over the Lebanese decision and the transformation of the South into a region outside the authority of the State with the consent of the political forces, parliamentarians, the prime minister and the parliament speaker alike and their total surrender to the status quo for which South residents are paying the price.

It believed that what happened in the South is connected with the photograph of the meeting between Head of Hamas’s Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, and Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah that dispelled all doubts about Hezbollah’s sponsorship of the missile launch operation and the invasion of the South, and created a complete provocation for the Lebanese, a total destruction of State’s prestige, and a flagrant violation of country’s sovereignty.

As Lebanon marks the 48th anniversary of its bloody civil war on April 13, the Kataeb Party warned against the creation of armed groups that fall under the banner of Hezbollah and the cover of Iranian axis, so that Palestinian camps will once again turn into fuel for wars that will take us to bygone days that led to a known outcome.

2-The Kataeb Political Bureau noted that the ruling elite was working on a plan to disrupt the municipal elections and all the electoral events to control the joints of the State and the will of the Lebanese people amid the presidential vacuum.

It also voiced its rejection over the attempt to call for a legislative session to legitimize the disruption of municipal elections at a time when elections became an urgent need especially in light of Lebanese institutions decay, holding all the parliamentarians who will secure the quorum in this session responsible for violating the Constitution that stipulates “The Chamber meeting to elect the President of the Republic shall be considered an electoral body and not a legislative assembly. It must proceed immediately, without discussion of any other act, to elect the Head of the State”.

The Kataeb Party affirmed that the only way out of political life’s breach is for Hezbollah to lift its control over the presidential elections, calling for the swift election of a president capable of bringing the Lebanese together, restoring the sovereignty of the State, addressing the country’s main issues on top of which Hezbollah’s illegal weapons, initiating reforms, and re-establishing relations between Lebanon and its friendly countries.

3-The Kataeb Party affimed that its Leader continues to communicate with all those concerned in the Lebanese file, saying that friendly countries such as France seek to provide Lebanon with assistance to elect a president.

It also considered that some of the proposed solutions represent surrender to Hezbollah’s conditions and a continuation of the 2016 settlement that led to the destruction of Lebanon and the migration of tens of thousands of people.
