Kataeb Party Says Nasrallah's Threat to Launch a War Affirms Cohesion Between Mafia and Militia

The Kataeb Party’s Political Bureau held its weekly meeting chaired by Kataeb Leader MP Samy Gemayel. After the meeting, the following statement was issued:

1- The Kataeb Political Bureau stated that it was not surprised by Hezbollah Secretary General’s threat to launch a war in the region following the circulated news on the possibility of imposing U.S sanctions on Lebanon’s Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh, saying that his reaction affirms the cohesion between the militia represented by Hezbollah and the mafia financed by Riad Salameh.

It affirmed that those two pledged to protect each other through good and bad times, and they practiced jointly all kinds of overt engineering that were successively revealed and led to the impoverishment of the Lebanese people and the collapse of vital institutions and sectors, especially the banks, while “Qard al-hasan” (benevolent loan) association is expanding its branches in Lebanon outside supervision and the law.

2- The Kataeb Party wondered about the efforts made to hold a legislative session under the pretext of necessity with the aim of extending the mandate of security leaders and financing some projects amid the absence of presidential elections sessions, stressing the importance of these sessions, if held in accordance with the Constitution, to resolve all the issues that they are trying to bypass with illegal jurisprudence.

It also praised the role of the opposition in its stances taken pursuant to the Lebanese Constitution, reiterating the importance of holding successive sessions until the election of a sovereign, courageous and reformist president who will be able to address all the issues to end the country’s collapse.

3- The Kataeb Party voiced its refusal over the suspension of Beirut blast case, calling for special attention for this case as the Lebanese have the right to know the truth behind this devastating explosion.

4- It also considered that Martyr President Bachir Gemayel should remain outside political debates because he met with all the political figures and national references whether they were opponents or enemies, saying that he did not conclude any settlement back then and gave an example on how to halt the chaos and build a country in 21 days.

The Kataeb Party affirmed that Martyr President Bachir Gemayel sacrificied his life for the sake of Lebanon and proved that a strong president is the one who carries a project entitled “Lebanon First”.
