Kataeb party on Tuesday stressed that Hezbollah might have given the green light to attack the Kataeb party after failed attempts to intice or intimidate it.

“Accordingly, the programmed campaigns were launched, the last of which was announced yesterday by Hezbollah's Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, who does not know until today what the Kataeb Party has been doing over the last thirty or forty years ago,” read a statement issued by the Kataeb political bureau following its weekly meeting at the party’s headquarters in Saifi.

“To revive Nasrallah’s memory, the Kataeb Party has faced all attempts to seize the country, its sovereignty and its free decision since its inception. In the universities, it fought the Syrian occupation that you supported, and it has struggled in the streets, demanding freedom, sovereignty and independence, which you have granted to the occupier under the slogan “Thank you, Syria,”. Moreover, it has challenged the cowardly assassinations of Pierre Gemayel and Antoine Ghanem, while you are hiding and protecting the killers,” it said addressing Hezbollah.

“As for the institutions, the Kataeb Party stood up against your failed governments, your deals and bargains, the electoral law that was tailored to your system in order to hold sway over the country, the fictitious budgets, the electoral recruitment and the taxes that you have promised to fight and did not believe to enter into total bankruptcy, and the power ships deal that you have not said anything about , so that we plunge into darkness. Additionally, the landfills that you overlooked to drown us into waste. You have traded reform over weapons as it is your goal, and you have handed Lebanon to foreign agendas. These are examples that may be useful in the time of electoral auctions,” it pointed out.

“To complement the attack against the Kataeb party, Head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil delivered a speech regarding the demands of the Kataeb Party for a ministerial seat in the fateful government settlement within the context of the Resisting Orchestra,” it added.

The Kataeb party stressed that it would not compromise on its principles, saying that the launched attacks will not erase the truth that they handed the country over to Hezbollah , isolated it and robbed it of its free decision.

“To conclude, Farid El Khazen and Emile Nawfal also launched an attack against Kataeb candidate in Keserwan-Jbeil district Selim Sayegh through statements and publications. The remarks made by these two candidates are cheap and do not belong to the traditions of the inhabitants of this district. They are more akin to the language of their masters in Haret Hreik," it conlcuded.
