The Lebanese army has presented a detailed five-phase plan to consolidate all weapons under State control, starting in the south and eventually covering the entire country, sources familiar with the matter told Al-Modon.

The first phase focuses on completing operations in the area south of the Litani River, followed by the region between the Litani and Al-Awali Rivers, then Beirut and its suburbs, and subsequently the Bekaa Valley. The fifth and final phase aims to bring all weapons under State authority across Lebanese territory.

Sources described the plan as carefully structured, outlining all capabilities the army can employ while also identifying the main obstacles and challenges. Critical needs for implementation include additional personnel, as well as engineering, technical, logistical, and military support, necessary for the army to assert full control nationwide.

The Lebanese army will determine its operational approach in each region according to its own assessment and capacity. Officials said the military will provide the Cabinet with monthly reports detailing its progress.

The plan emphasizes that halting Israeli attacks and securing their withdrawal are essential conditions for the full deployment of army forces across the country.

It also calls for enhanced military presence and checkpoints to prevent weapons smuggling, tighter control of the Lebanese-Syrian border, the closure of illegal crossings, and measures to stop the trafficking of arms and drugs.

Moreover, the army's plan aims to complete the disarmament of Palestinian refugee camps.
