Ain al-Hilweh Scheduled for Final Phase of Palestinian Camp Weapons Handover

Lebanese authorities are stepping up efforts with Palestinian factions to secure the handover of remaining weapons in the country’s refugee camps, security sources said, citing a positive momentum in the process.

The move follows the example set by the Fatah movement, which was the first to voluntarily surrender its heavy arms to the Lebanese State.

“The situation is progressing positively,” a security official told Al-Anbaa online, noting that mechanisms for the handover are being developed across the various camps, with Ain al-Hilweh, Lebanon’s largest Palestinian camp, expected to be addressed in the final phase.

The source emphasized that the Palestinian National Security Forces are fully prepared to maintain security within the camps and to handle any incidents that may occur.

“Direct coordination with the Lebanese authorities continues, particularly regarding the handover of any individuals involved in armed incidents,” the official said.
