During its weekly meeting, chaired by Kataeb Leader MP Samy Gemayel, the Kataeb Political Bureau discussed the latest developments in Gaza and their repercussions on Lebanon.
The Kataeb Political Bureau reviewed a number of reports concerning this matter, taking into consideration the deteriorated situation in southern Lebanon.
After the meeting, the following statement was issued:
1-The Kataeb Political Bureau reiterates its warning against risking Lebanon and its fate, plunging it into a war unrelated to its concerns, burdens, or consequences, considering that all operations originating from the south, conducted by Lebanese and non-Lebanese factions, as beyond the framework of respecting the country's sovereignty.
It believes that such operations remind us of the stages we do not want to be repeated in a bid to safeguard the security of the State and its people who are enduring immense hardships during the crisis.
2-The Kataeb Political Bureau considers that the government’s failure to secure the Lebanese borders, defend the state’s exclusive right to decide on peace and war and ensure the respect of resolution 1701, exposes Lebanon to great risks.
It also said that Lebanese officials are dealing with the occurring events as if facing a normal disaster beyond their control, saying that they have no say in the unfolding events and their decisions are made only in preparation to bear the consequences of conflict, relinquishing their natural role in striving to prevent Lebanon from heading into the unknown.
The Kataeb Political Bureau affirms that Lebanese officials’ actions reflect their complete submission to Hezbollah's will and its regional sponsor.
3-The Kataeb Political Bureau condemns the violent actions during the protests, especially in front of certain embassies, notably the US Embassy in Awkar, considering these actions not a solidarity with the Palestinian people but as an attempt to spread chaos and vandalism in secure areas, resulting in the loss of people's livelihoods.
It warns against the repetition of such actions, urging security forces to be vigilant in preventing anyone from violating the peace of innocent citizens under any pretext aiming to prevent confrontations with locals that could lead to dire consequences.
4-The Kataeb Political Bureau congratulates Kataeb students who emerged victorious in the recent student elections, calling on all Lebanese students to be prepared to play their national role just like the generations before them did.
It said that this duty is imposed by the reality of the country, which requires students’ steadfast determination and desire to build a future that mirrors their aspirations.
