Israeli Airstrikes Hit Hezbollah Targets Across Lebanon as Conflict Escalates

Israeli airstrikes struck the southern suburbs of Beirut early Thursday as a deadline imposed by Israel for Iranian operatives to leave Lebanon expired and fighting intensified along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

The strikes targeted the neighborhoods of Ghobeiry and Haret Hreik in the early morning hours.

Israel’s military had earlier issued evacuation orders for residents in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, warning that it was preparing to strike what it described as sites linked to Hezbollah. The army said one of the targets included a facility used by Hezbollah’s aerial units but did not provide evidence to support the claim.

In southern Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes were also reported in the al-Shahabiya district of Tyre, while additional attacks hit the city of Nabatieh, according to Al Jazeera Arabic. There were no immediate reports of casualties from those attacks.

Hezbollah said on Wednesday that its fighters were engaged in armed clashes with Israeli troops advancing into the southern Lebanese town of Dahira. The group also said it had carried out aerial attacks targeting northern Israel.

The developments come as Israeli ground forces continue to push deeper into Lebanon as part of a ground offensive north of the border, which Israel says is aimed at establishing a buffer zone and pushing Hezbollah fighters farther away from Israeli territory.

On Thursday, the Israeli army issued another warning to residents in southern Lebanon, urging them to “continue evacuating to the north of the Litani River.”

“Anyone present near Hezbollah elements, facilities, or combat means endangers their life,” the military said in a statement. “Any home used by Hezbollah for military purposes may be subject to targeting.”

Further north, an Israeli strike hit the Beddawi refugee camp, close to the city of Tripoli, far from the areas where most Israeli attacks in Lebanon have occurred.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health said the strike killed at least two people. Local sources inside the Palestinian refugee camp told Al Jazeera that a Hamas official had been killed in what appeared to be a targeted assassination.

In the Bekaa Valley, an Israeli drone struck a car on the highway near Zahle, killing two people according to initial reports.

Moreover, Israeli warplanes launched an airstrike on the University District in Nabatiyeh. Israeli artillery also shelled the area near the Litani River on the outskirts of Sarira.

Additional airstrikes targeted the area between the towns of Aba and Jibchit, while the town of Zawtar al‑Gharbiyeh was also hit in a separate raid.

Earlier, beginning at around 4:20 a.m., Israeli warplanes carried out a series of strikes on Aba, including two raids, one of which destroyed a residential home belonging to a member of the Omais family.

Airstrikes also hit the town of Kfarreman, where two raids struck the area around the Communist Roundabout and the Sweida neighborhood. Additional strikes were reported near the cemetery in Kfour and in the nearby town of Toul.

The area between Zawtar and Kfartabnit was also struck, leaving three people injured. Israeli drones were seen flying over the regions of Tyre and Bint Jbeil.

Two additional strikes hit the towns of Adaisseh and Deir Siryan in the Marjeyoun District.

Earlier at dawn, Israeli warplanes carried out a strike on Haret Hreik, but the missile reportedly failed to detonate. The aircraft later returned and launched a second, more powerful strike on the same location, with the explosion heard across several areas of Mount Lebanon.

At the same time, an Israeli naval vessel targeted a residential apartment in Haret Hreik, according to local reports.

At least 75 people have been killed in Israeli attacks across Lebanon since Monday, according to preliminary figures, with more than 400 others wounded and tens of thousands displaced.
