Hankach Deems Coordination between Forces of Change as Key to Salvation

Kataeb lawmaker Elias Hankach on Saturday deemed coordination between the forces opposition as key for salvation and rebalancing, saying that what happened during the binding parliamentary consultations was due to the poor coordination between these forces.

“Neutral decisions pose a great threat in this fateful phase. I do not understand why some deputies did not choose anyone while we were fighting to make people aware of not casting a blank paper and expressing their opinion clearly. We had a great opportunity to elect Nawaf Salam to head the government as he is independent from the system and had a new approach,” Hankach said in an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio station.

“Whoever did not name anyone clearly had political interests. We, as the Kataeb party are clear and steadfast in our positions. We named Salam last time and fought his battle with MP Michel Mouawad, and this time also we need to restore our relationship with the international community and we met with him and he clarified his positions,”  he added.

“We should be the rescue forces for this country. Time has come to find solutions and take decisive choices and decisions as there is no time for propaganda, and politics is an honorable art to save the country and stand by the oppressed people,” he pointed out.

“Mikati will not form the government for not creating duplication in light of his leadership of a caretaker government, and he has great obligations such as completing negotiations with the IMF until the presidential elections, " he said.

He expected that the stalemate and waste of money would continue.

“What Mikati could not achieve in the past months, would not be achieved in the upcoming months, the same applies to President Aoun,” he added.

“We seek a President  who enjoys the confidence of the people and the international community to implement decisive measures to get Lebanon out of its unending crises,” he pointed out.

“If the presidential election is dealt with in the same way as other elections, we are heading towards collapse,” he affirmed.

“Administrative decentralization and neutrality should be adopted. The President of the Republic must go around the world to save the country, as we are at a stage where we need international support,” he added.

“I am proud that I belong to a party that does not change its principles. We promise the Lebanon that we will do everything so that the presidential would be held on time,” he concluded.
