Former Economy Minister and Political Bureau Member Alain Hakim wrote on "X" platform:

"Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s step in confronting Iranian interference signals the restoration of Lebanon’s sovereignty and puts an end to any attempts to impose guardianship over its national decision. This path must continue to protect the State's entity."

Hakim's remarks came following caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati's directive to Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib to summon the chargé d'affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Beirut and seek clarification on Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf's statement, in which he suggested Tehran's readiness to negotiate with France on implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
