Gemayel Denounces the Attack on Maronite Catholic Eparch

Former Kataeb leader Amine Gemayel condemned the arrest of Maronite Catholic eparch and Patriarchal Exarch of Jerusalem, Palestine, and Jordan, Moussa El-Hage who was on a humanitarian duty, deeming his summoning for interrogation before the military court as an act imposed by a bygone political and judicial ideology.

“The security and judicial bodies insist to prove their ability and compliance with a political recommendation. They are exercising their authority over one group unduly while wanted enjoy protection, honour and promotion,” read a statement issued by Amine Gemayel.

Gemayel denounced the political message addressed to Bkerke in response to its national stances, calling for a national pressing stance in a bid to stop these futile practices reflecting a ridiculous policy approach that threatens the civil peace.

“We call upon the the President of the Republic, the caretaker Prime Minister, the Minister of Interior, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Commander of the Lebanese Army and the Director General of Public Security, who have the authority, to stop this scandal,” the statement added. 

Earlier today, Former Kataeb leader Amine Gemayel had called Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi denouncing the attack on Catholic eparch and Patriarchal Exarch of Jerusalem, Palestine, and Jordan, Moussa El-Hage.
