Security Tensions at Beirut Airport as Iranian Delegation Blocks Inspection of Mahan Air Flight

An Iranian delegation aboard an Iranian Air Mahan flight from Tehran, which had landed at Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport, attempted to prevent Lebanese security officials from inspecting the plane, as reported by the Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar on Thursday.

The report mentioned that the airport had been on high alert due to suspicions that the flight might be carrying funds for Hezbollah.

Earlier on Thursday, Saudi news outlet Al-Hadath, citing Western sources, reported that Iran was planning to transfer millions of dollars to Hezbollah through the Air Mahan flight from Tehran to Beirut.

According to An-nahar, one member of the delegation refused to allow his bag to be searched. However, Lebanese authorities eventually seized the contents of the bag.
