Prime Minister Nawaf Salam confirmed that his government will seek to "restore confidence between citizens and the state, between Lebanon and its Arab surroundings, and between Lebanon and the international community."

He said: "The government will have to work with the Parliament Council to complete the implementation of the Taif Agreement and proceed with financial and economic reforms. The cabinet will be a space for constructive joint work and not for quarrels."

He added: "I care that the government is of reform and salvation, for reform is the only path to true salvation."
