Official: Hezbollah Will Not Disarm as Long as Israel Occupies Lebanon

A senior Hezbollah official has suggested that the militant group will not disarm as long as Israel continues to occupy parts of Lebanon.

Mohammed Daamoush made these remarks during a Friday prayer sermon in Beirut, highlighting Israel’s ongoing occupation of five key hilltops in southern Lebanon. He accused Israel of daily ceasefire violations and suggested that these actions were part of a broader strategy to pressure Lebanon into normalizing relations with the Jewish state.

Daamoush pointed to the increasing tensions along the border, stating that the Lebanese state now holds control over the border with Israel and that Lebanon’s newly formed government enjoys international support. He also emphasized that the Lebanese state possesses weapons, questioning what actions have been taken to confront the daily Israeli violations and acts of aggression.

He went on to argue that in the face of occupation and continuous aggression, weapons should remain in the hands of those capable of defending the country.

"When there is occupation and ongoing aggression, the people must retain their ability to resist," Daamoush declared, challenging the narrative that only the state should possess weapons in such circumstances.
