Nadim Gemayel Slams Naim Qassem: Hezbollah’s Actions Dragged Lebanon into Ruin

Kataeb MP Nadim Gemayel responded to Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem’s speech with a post on “X”:

“Naim Qassem’s speech does not reflect an awareness of the magnitude of the catastrophe that has befallen Lebanon due to the reckless adventures of his militia, its unilateral actions, and its self-imposed guardianship over the country.”

He continued: “He blatantly disregards his responsibility for the ruin we are enduring today, conveniently forgetting that the agreements he signed and the unleashing of Israel’s actions are a direct result of his insistence on backing Gaza. This, despite 10 months of international envoys urging a halt and the Lebanese people's clear opposition to dragging Lebanon into catastrophe.”

Gemayel concluded: “Gaza has been destroyed, Lebanon has been devastated, lives have been lost, and thousands displaced. Yet Qassem spoke without even waiting for the return of the 160,000 displaced individuals who remain in shelters.”

Qassem said Wednesday that "there is now a chance for the Lebanese state to prove itself (against Israel's violations) through political action."

Noting that any attack on south Lebanon is "an attack on the state and the international community," Qassem said "the Lebanese state is the side responsible for following up on the ceasefire with the agreement enforcement committee."
