Baathist Syria had played a major role in Lebanon, intervening in the country's civil war, occupying the country in the post-war period, and manipulating Lebanon's political landscape to benefit its political and economic interests. Kataeb Mourns Party's Former Vice President
The Kataeb party on Monday mourned former Kataeb Vice President Chaker Aoun who passed away on Sunday.
“The Kataeb party has lost a loyal person who spent his entire life in the service of his country, courageous, persistent and faithful in Lebanon,” read a statement issued by the party.
Aoun was elected as a member of the Kataeb political bureau in 1983 and served as the party's deputy head between 2008-2015.
