The Lebanese Army on Sunday denied social media rumors alleging that armed militants had crossed into Lebanese territory and that military units had pulled back from border areas in the eastern Bekaa Valley.
In a statement, the Army Command dismissed the claims as baseless and reaffirmed that troops deployed along the Lebanese-Syrian frontier continue to carry out their routine duties to secure the border.
"Military units concerned are continuing their regular missions to control the Lebanese-Syrian border," the statement said, adding that internal security operations are also underway to prevent any threats to public safety and national stability.
The army warned against the spread of misinformation and urged both media outlets and social media users to verify reports related to national security before sharing them.
"It is essential to act responsibly and avoid spreading rumors that could provoke panic among citizens," the statement concluded.
