Justice Minister Adel Nassar on Tuesday firmly rejected accusations of political interference in recent judicial appointments, insisting the process was guided solely by merit and free of sectarian or partisan influence.
“All judicial appointments, without exception, were made based on merit, integrity, productivity, and academic ranking, far from any form of political quotas, no matter how long the process took or how complex the path was,” Nassar wrote in a post on X.
In a pointed message aimed at his detractors, Nassar added: “They say, ‘They didn’t let us.’ I say, ‘I didn’t let them.’”
Nassar said he would not have been compelled to respond publicly had it not been for what he described as “deliberate distortion” and “unjust attacks” on the judiciary.
“If it weren’t for the deliberate distortion and unjust attacks on the judiciary, I wouldn’t even need to clarify,” he wrote. “The truth lies in actions, not in slogans.”
