Resigned Kataeb MP Elias Hankache on Thursday slammed the government’s failure and negligence in addressing the explosion issue that rocked Beirut city last Tuesday, saying that there is no justification for declaring a state of emergency following a week from the blast.
“The State and its components haven’t carried out any serious search for the missing persons in the blast, but rather they stood up in the face of the protesters which some of them are today really injured,” Hankache told “Al-Horra” channel.
“People have lost their trust in the current ruling authority and there is no way of restoring that trust except with holding early parliamentary elections which will bring back a new Parliament,” he said.
Hankache stressed that there are ministers who are protected from political sides, affirming that the Lebanese people will not remain silent about that.
“People will hold accountable every official who dragged the country into the current stage it is experiencing today,” he noted, saying that the international community do not trust the current government thus it will deliver aid directly to the people.
“Our wish is to change this electoral law that led to forming to this Parliament,” he added.
