French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le-Drian called on Lebanon to accelerate the formation of a new government that would prove its effectiveness before the people, voicing France’s continuous support for the country and its citizens.

“The new government’s main mission would be responding to the main challenges the country is facing today, namely Beirut’s reconstruction and the reforms which without them, the country will be heading towards an economic, social and political collapse,” Le Drian said in a statement carried by local media.

“We must listen to the demands expressed by the Lebanese in terms of reforms and how to exercise governance,” he added.
