“Granting confidence is a political process above all. If the government wished to respond to the protest’s demands, it has to hold early parliamentary elections,” Sayegh told Voice of Lebanon radio station.
The Kataeb official denoted that the party leader’s attendance of the European People’s Party (EPP) assembly has had a major impact on the situation in Lebanon as it gives hope of it adopting the protest’s demands.
“The uprising benefits from an international political umbrella following Gemayel’s participation in the EPP assembly,” he ensured.
He assured that neither the new Cabinet nor the existing ruling authority will be given the vote of confidence.
“The uprising demands early parliamentary elections, in line with the European aspirations, which proves the lack of trust in the ruling system,” he stressed.
Sayegh called for allowing protesters to express their opinion without threatening them with prohibitions.
During the EPP's recent political assembly attended by Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel, a special resolution was reached in support of Lebanon’s ‘October Uprising’ and holding early parliamentary election.
