“Sarkhet Watan” electoral list which includes Neemat George Frem, Selim Boutros Sayegh, Julie Fawzy Daccache, Wajdi Khalil Tabet, Josephine Antoine Zgheib, Najwa Victor Bassil, Nawfal Youssef Nawfal and Amir Mouhammad Abdel Karim al-Moqdad was announced Thursday during a campaign launch event in Jounieh.
Candidate for Maronite seat in Keserwan Ftouh - Jbeil Selim Sayegh said that he was a revolutionary against himself before being a revolutionary against others.
“I have decided with Samy Gemayel that things cannot continue as they are, and we aspire to have a Lebanon that does not compromise on human interests,” he noted.
“We also witnessed October 17th revolution and we saw men of different backgrounds, headed by Neemat Frem, who took a bold decision. We met and we have decided to join our efforts to build the future together,” he added.
“Today, all the members of this list have a common dream, and every person is distinguished by a certain matter. I was exposed to important experiences when I was a minister. I call you to hold me accountable in the upcoming elections and inspect the ministry’s records. We are not talking about slogans rather achievements, and the people seek confidence in the future, not empty words during the elections then forgotten on May 16th,” he noted.
“We are change seekers and we should be neutral and must stand by Bkerke,” he added.
“Accountability should be achieved. Otherwise, how can we look into the eyes of Joe Akiki ,Joe Noun and all martyrs’ families who are seeking justice? Where is the indictment? Or is it required to suspend Judge Bitar from his duties so as not to “disturb” the allies for the sake of electoral calculations?” he asked.
“Justice is not seasonal rather an existing reality and a condition for building citizenship. Is this too much to ask for?” he added.
Sayegh deemed weapons and corruption as two sides of the same coin.
“The first step to achieve justice is in politics through taking the right decision so that we can restore balance in Parliament, not allow any party to have access for illegal weapons, and confront weapons with word and truth,” he affirmed.
For his part, Candidate for Maronite seat in Keserwan Ftouh- Jbeil district Neemat Frem said that he was honored to launch “Sarkhet Watan” electoral list in Keserwan Fouh - Jbeil, which includes 3 female candidates, deeming it as an opposition list par excellence, and each candidate has pledged to work to achieve sovereignty and positive impartiality in foreign policy.
“We have pledged to work to recover depositors’ money, develop a recovery plan with the international community, achieve extensive decentralization, develop the system, rebuild state institutions and protect them from any political interference, and most importantly ensure the independence of the judiciary,” he noted.
“If you are comfortable with the conditions of schools, universities, hospitals, electricity, water, and medications, then vote for the system, but if you want to change this reality, then the Parliament must have new faces, so vote for them and vote against quotas and external dependence,” he pointed out.
Candidate for Maronite seat in Keserwan Ftouh- Jbeil district Najwa Bassil stressed her experience in municipal work that made her aware that public administrations are weak.
“We want to participate in confronting the ruling class, the quota system, and the injustice that every citizen is subjected to,” she added.
“I have decided to run for the elections in order to give every citizen another option and to restore the rule of law,” she pointed out.
Candidate for Maronite seat in Keserwan Ftouh-Jbeil Wajdi Tabet said that the country was devoured by corruption because of a political class that chose its interests at the expense of our future.
“We have qualifications and seek a sovereign state that monopolizes the decision of peace and war,” he noted.
Candidate for Maronite seat in Keserwan Ftouh-Jbeil Josephine Zgheib noted that the authority humiliated and impoverished the Lebanese people.
“We seek a workshop to build the state again and we are ready to assume responsibility, and there is an opportunity on May 15 for change and saving Lebanon,” he added.
Candidate for Shiite seat in Keserwan Ftouh-Jbeil district Amir al-Moqdad deemed the electoral battle as crucial against the failed regime, saying that the time has come to hold every responsible accountable.
“I call you to hold them accountable for their failure and criminality on May 15,” he said addressing the Lebanese people.
Candidate for Maronite seat in Keserwan Ftouh-Jbeil Julie Daccache said that they have not succeed in 2005 in building a state as a group took control over the state and kidnapped it by force of arms and another group gave it legitimacy.
“Our battle will continue within the Parliament, and we will confront everyone who has projects to abolish the Lebanese identity,” she noted.
