Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah on Tuesday condemned the U.S. recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, considering it a pivotal moment in the Arab-Israeli conflict.

“The U.S. move deals a harsh and final blow to the peace process in the Middle East,” he said in a televised speech.

Nasrallah deemed the U.S. move on Golan as disrespectful towards the Arab and Muslim worlds given the wide consensus on the status of the area as an occupied land by Israel, adding that Arab countries allied with Washington have been humiliated.

“When the world allowed Trump to confiscate Jerusalem and declare it the eternal capital of Israel, it opened the door for the U.S. crossing all the red lines,” Nasrallah said.

Hezbollah chief called on Arab leaders to withdraw the 2002 peace proposal during the upcoming Arab League Summit in Tunisia.

“What happened proves that Israel is the top priority for the United States,” he added.

“The U.S. does not respect international laws; it uses them for its own targets, and disregards them when they do not serve its interests."

Nasrallah warned of similar moves in the future, saying that the next thing to expect is the recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank.

“Those who were still hesitant must now be convinced that the Resistance is the only option for the Syrian to regain the Golan, for the Lebanese to regain the Shebaa Farms and the Kfarshouba Hills, and for the Palestinians for restore their rights."

Turning to the recent visit made by U.S. State Secretary Mike Pompeo to Beirut, Nasrallah lashed out at the latter's "lies" targeting Hezbollah, adding that it is Israel, supported by the U.S., the one that has been jeopardizing Lebanon for the past decades.

“Israel, not Hezbollah, is the one putting Lebanon at risk."

“During his speech in Beirut, Pompeo mentioned Hezbollah 18 times and Iran 19 times within only a few minutes,” he noted.

“We are highly satisfied that we are upsetting the most powerful country in the world, because we hail from a political school which taught us that there is a problem whenever America is happy with us,” Nasrallah stressed. "By upsetting the U.S. to this extent, we are reassured that we're on the right track."

“Pompeo claimed that Hezbollah has been Lebanon's problem for the past 34 years, without mentioning Israel even once, knowing that is violating Lebanon's sovereignty on a daily basis,” he stated.

“Is it true that Hezbollah is Lebanon's only problem and that it is the obstacle preventing the Lebanese people from fulfilling their dreams?” he asked. “The Lebanese people are dreaming to liberate their occupied land and of to have a corruption-free state; they want to maintain peace and stability.”

“Those preventing Lebanon from using its resources, imposing sanctions, and hindering the return of Syrian and Palestinian refugees are the ones standing in the way of the Lebanese people's dreams,” he stressed.

“Pompeo accused Hezbollah of spreading destruction, while the U.S. and its allies are the ones spreading chaos in the region,” he denounced.

“Hezbollah was part of the resistance structure that stood in the face of the U.S. in Syria. We went to Syria to protect all the Lebanese and not only Shiites,” he elaborated.

“Pompeo’s problem with us is that we were among those who fought the U.S. scheme in Syria and we are still among those fighting its 'deal of the century' in Palestine."

Nasrallah also blasted Pompeo for accusing Hezbollah of stealing the Lebanese State's funds, defying him to present any evidence proving his claim.

“Can you present evidence that Iran is using Lebanon for drug trafficking and money laundering?”

“All of Hezbollah’s achievements were disregarded by Pompeo. You would not have come to Lebanon had it not been for Hezbollah,” he said.

“Pompeo's main target was to sow sedition between the Lebanese and pit them against each other,” he warned.

“I believe that we have largely overcome the threat emanating from Pompeo's visit,” Nasrallah said, thanking President Aoun, Speaker Berri, and all other political forces that have defended Hezbollah during their talks with the U.S. official.
