Israel Strikes Hezbollah Targets Across Lebanon in Wake of Mortar Attack

Israeli fighter jets launched a series of airstrikes across Lebanon on Monday night, targeting Hezbollah operatives, rocket launchers, and infrastructure in response to a mortar attack by the group on the Mount Dov area earlier in the day.

In a statement, the Israeli army said its air force had struck militants and dozens of rocket launchers and facilities belonging to Hezbollah across Lebanon. The airstrikes also hit a rocket launcher in the Barghouz area of southern Lebanon, which had been used in the attack on Mount Dov. The army emphasized that the site was struck shortly after the mortars were launched.

“Hezbollah’s launches tonight constitute a violation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon,” the Israeli army said. “The State of Israel demands that the relevant parties in Lebanon fulfill their responsibilities and prevent Hezbollah’s hostile activity from within Lebanese territory. The State of Israel remains obligated to the fulfillment of the conditions of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.”

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee confirmed the extensive scope of the airstrikes on his "X" account, stressing that the military remains committed to protecting Israeli citizens and is prepared to escalate its operations if necessary.

Meanwhile, Syria’s Sham FM radio reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted border crossings between Lebanon and Syria in the al-Qusayr area, a location previously struck by the Israeli army. Hezbollah has been accused of using these crossings to smuggle Iranian weapons into Lebanon.
