Netanyahu Vows Strong Response to Hezbollah’s Mortar Attack

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a strong response following a Hezbollah mortar attack on an Israeli army position in the Mount Dov area, condemning the attack as a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement between the two sides.

“Hezbollah’s firing at Mount Dov constitutes a serious violation of the ceasefire, and Israel will respond forcefully,” Netanyahu stated, emphasizing that any attack on Israeli positions would not go unpunished.

The prime minister underscored Israel’s determination to uphold the ceasefire, stressing that any violation, regardless of its scale, would be met with a robust military reaction.

“We are determined to continue enforcing the ceasefire, and to respond to any violation by Hezbollah — a minor one will be treated like a major one,” he added.

The mortar attack occurred in the Mount Dov area, a region situated along the Lebanon-Israel border, which has been a point of contention between Hezbollah and Israel. The area is also known as the Shebaa Farms, a disputed territory that both Lebanon and Syria claim, but is currently controlled by Israel. Mount Dov, located in this region, has long been a flashpoint for cross-border tensions and occasional skirmishes between the two sides.
