Kataeb MP Elias Hankache on Thursday pledged to make his membership in the Higher Council effective, and to turn it from a powerless body into one that works relentlessly to enforce accountability.

"I promise to make practical steps that would turn my membership in the Higher Council from a folkloric post into an effectual one so that the concept of accountability would prevail," Hankache wrote on his social media accounts.

Earlier this week, the Parliament elected Hankache as one of the members of the Higher Council, tasked with holding to account ministers and heads of state.
