Lebanon Reports Surge in Israeli Airstrikes and Alarming Humanitarian Crisis

Lebanon's National Emergency Committee issued a report on Monday detailing the scale of recent Israeli airstrikes and the humanitarian crisis gripping the country.

According to the committee's 30th report, Israeli forces launched 179 airstrikes on Lebanon in the last 48 hours, primarily in the south and the Nabatiyeh district. This brings the total number of recorded attacks to 11,340 since the beginning of the conflict.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported an additional 38 fatalities and 124 injuries over the past two days, raising the toll to 2,710 dead and 12,592 wounded.

Displacement within Lebanon has reached critical levels, with 189,298 people, or 43,616 families, now housed in shelters. While the highest concentration of displaced individuals is in Mount Lebanon and Beirut, authorities suggest the real numbers are likely much higher. Of the 1,114 shelters set up, 935 have reached their maximum capacity.

Security agencies have intensified their efforts to maintain order, assist the displaced, and oversee the distribution of essential supplies, including food and fuel, in addition to safeguarding shelter sites and controlling prices. Security forces are also monitoring the borders closely amid the influx of civilians leaving the country, the report noted.

Lebanon’s General Security reported a marked increase in cross-border movement from September 23 to October 28, with 353,410 Syrians and 165,030 Lebanese having crossed into Syria.
