Kataeb Party: Lebanon Returning to National Path, Embracing Bashir Gemayel’s Vision

The Kataeb's Political Bureau held its weekly meeting to discuss recent domestic and regional political developments. Following the session, the Bureau issued the following statement:

1. The bureau commends President Joseph Aoun’s remarks on the anniversary of the assassination of President Bashir Gemayel, as well as Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s assertion that Lebanon can only heal from its wounded past through truth and reconciliation, ending the era of denial and political violence. The bureau considers both positions as a reflection of Lebanon’s return to its national path, recognizing officially Bashir Gemayel’s vision of State sovereignty, army unity, and the strengthening of institutional governance.

2. The party denounces Israel’s recent attack on Qatar as a blatant violation of international conventions and diplomatic norms, which require respect for the safety of negotiating delegations regardless of their stance on Hamas or its policies. The bureau reiterates its firm opposition to targeting any country hosting diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving conflicts.

3. The bureau urged the government to act swiftly on expatriate voting by submitting a draft law with the necessary electoral amendments to Parliament without delay. The bureau calls on the Cabinet to ensure compliance with constitutional deadlines and prevent any excuse for postponing elections.

4. The bureau calls for an expedited revision of the end-of-service compensation law under the National Social Security Fund to ensure social justice and preserve the dignity of workers and employees, while maintaining financial balance for both the State and the private sector.
