The Lebanese Kataeb Party honored Michael Bauer, head of the Beirut office of German Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, KAS), as he concluded his mission in Lebanon, recognizing his consistent support and pivotal role in strengthening cooperation between the party and the foundation.
Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel presented Bauer with a commemorative shield, lauding what he described as a “decades-old historic relationship” and the enduring ties linking the Kataeb to Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU).
The tribute was marked by a luncheon attended by MP Elias Hankach, Political Bureau members Dr. Zeina Hobeika and Patrick Richa, head of the Legislative and Public Policy Department, lawyer Lara Saade, as well as the head of the Foreign Affairs Department Marwan Abdallah, and department member Anthony Bou Abboud.
Founded in 1955, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation is closely affiliated with Germany’s CDU and works internationally to promote democracy, rule of law and political dialogue. The foundation has long-standing cooperation with Lebanese political and civil society actors, including the Kataeb Party.
