Kataeb party on Tuesday refused Hezbollah’s “drones operation” issued from the Lebanese territories, saying that it poses new risks to Lebanon and drags it into unknown repercussions.
“The one and only message, which Hezbollah believed to be already transmitted, was addressed to the Lebanese to affirm that negotiations cannot be carried on without Hezbollah’s confirmation. It is the one and only decision-maker. Such practices do not only undermine Lebanon’s sovereignty but also its opportunity to invest in the oil wealth thereof,” read a statement issued by the Kataeb political bureau following its weekly meeting at the party’s headquarters in Saifi.
“The country and its people are entitled to this strategic right which is capable of helping the crisis-hit country rise,” it stated.
The political bureau believed that the Prime Minister’s condemning declarations and those of the Minister of Foreign Affairs as well as their denunciation attempts were no longer sufficient to escape Hezbollah’s anomalies capable of plunging Lebanon into wars based on the so-believed “if only I knew” phrase for aims outside the country’s interests.
“Lebanon requires active steps to bring power back to the State and the institutions thereof not to remain justification tools distributing roles to put Hezbollah instead of Lebanon’s sovereignty under cover,” it said.
“The Central Bank governor adopted artificial monetary stability to escape the inevitable explosion. It is consuming the remaining Lebanese’ deposits while the ruling elite still fails to take measures to soothe the Lebanese burdened with the main services’ imaginary tariffs. The latest of which is the telecom tariffs which were added to medicine, water, and electricity soaring prices,” it stressed.
The Kataeb party deemed the formation of a rescue government as key to pulling the country out of rock bottom, saying that the upcoming government should be far from the logic of political quotas and presidential interests.
“We call for the formation of a government that works around the clock and does not waste time, money, energy, and opportunity. This government should be frank and take a set of decisions to put end to the ongoing collapse,” it noted.
The Kataeb party stressed the importance of meeting the presidential elections, calling upon deputies to convene to elect a new president within not less than one month and not exceeding two months prior to the expiration of the term of office of the President of the Republic.
