The Lebanese Kataeb Party marked the 50th anniversary of the Lebanese Resistance’s launch with a grand ceremony at the Chiyah-Ain El-Remmaneh Stadium on Saturday.
The event was attended by former President Amine Gemayel and his wife, Mrs. Joyce Gemayel, Kataeb Party leader and MP Samy Gemayel, Kataeb MPs Salim Sayegh, Nadim Gemayel, Elias Hankach, as well as members of the party's political bureau and a large crowd of supporters, party members, and notable regional figures.
The ceremony began with a solemn tribute as Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel unveiled a plaque at the Bullet Statue, bearing the names of 400 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Lebanon’s cause. Gemayel laid a laurel wreath at the monument to honor these fallen heroes.
The event continued with remarks from Bachir Bou Tanios, the head of the Kataeb Party’s Baabda district.
A documentary depicting the early stages of the Lebanese Civil War was screened, followed by a powerful speech from the Kataeb Party’s Inspector General, Najib Boutros, who spoke on behalf of the resistance fighters.
Tony El-Fatta, a war veteran from the Kataeb Party, then addressed the audience, representing the party’s members who were injured during the conflict.
The event culminated in a march that began at the Chiyah Sports Complex, heading toward the site where Joseph Bou Assi, the Kataeb Party’s first martyr of the 15-year war, fell in Ain El-Remmaneh.
The ceremony concluded with Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel laying a wreath at the memorial of martyr Joseph Bou Assi, reaffirming the party’s commitment to honoring those who gave their lives for Lebanon’s freedom and sovereignty.
