Judicial Cooperation in Focus as Syrian Delegation Visits Lebanon

This morning, a Syrian judicial delegation arrived in Lebanon via the Masnaa border crossing, marking a step that underscores both countries’ commitment to resolving outstanding issues, particularly the case of Syrian detainees in Lebanon.

In an exclusive statement to kataeb.org, Lebanese Justice Minister Adel Nassar confirmed that the visiting delegation will meet with Lebanese judges in full coordination with the Ministry of Justice to discuss a range of judicial matters critical to Lebanese-Syrian relations.

Nassar explained that the visit aims to establish constructive channels of dialogue, paving the way for positive resolutions to contentious issues, especially the sensitive matter of Syrian detainees, which requires close judicial cooperation.

The minister added that the meetings will also address other shared judicial files, noting that these initial discussions will be followed by ongoing consultations to consolidate collaboration in ways that serve security and stability.

A senior human rights source described the initiative as a positive step toward ensuring detainees’ rights and fair trials, highlighting that cooperation between the two countries’ judicial systems could help ease the burden on affected families and reinforce legal stability in the region.

The visit comes as part of broader efforts by Lebanon and Syria to enhance legal and judicial ties and to address longstanding issues that have strained bilateral relations over the past years.
