At the Justice Ministry’s handover ceremony on Wednesday, outgoing Minister Henry Khoury highlighted key achievements, including Lebanon’s integration into European judicial cooperation programs, advancements in anti-cybercrime efforts, and the launch of Lebanon’s digital identity initiative.
Khoury also underscored the importance of judicial independence and international collaboration in strengthening the justice sector.
In turn, incoming Minister Adel Nassar emphasized the judiciary’s role in rebuilding trust between citizens and the state.
“No crime should go unpunished, and no political persecution should take place,” Nassar stated, stressing the need for judicial independence and efficiency in handling pending cases, particularly corruption-related ones.
On the Beirut Port explosion investigation, Nassar affirmed that “the law will be applied, and no pressure should hinder the process. No one is above the law."
The newly appointed Justice Minister also pledged to push forward judicial appointments based on merit, reaffirming his commitment to fairness, and transparency, and strengthening Lebanon’s legal institutions.
