Prime Minister Nawaf Salam led a high-level meeting at the Grand Serail on Wednesday, convening key ministers and officials to address the ongoing security concerns in the country.

The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Yassine Jaber, Defense Minister Brigadier General Michel Menassa, Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji, Interior Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Al-Hajjar, Justice Minister Adel Nassar, Public Works and Transport Minister Fayez Rasamny, Secretary General of the Higher Defense Council Major General Mohammad Mustafa, and Judge Mahmoud Makiyyeh, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

In the aftermath of recent unrest, including the assault on a UNIFIL convoy and riots on the airport road, Justice Minister Nassar condemned the attacks on public property and the peacekeeping mission. He assured that all necessary measures had been implemented to prevent such incidents from recurring and to ensure that Lebanese laws are upheld.

"We are committed to enforcing the law, and any violation of public property or the freedom of movement will lead to legal action," Nassar stated.

Public Works and Transport Minister Fayez Rasamny also addressed the pressing issue of Lebanese citizens stranded in Tehran, confirming that the Lebanese government has not yet received the necessary permits from Iranian authorities for their return. However, Rasamny assured that Lebanon would cover all expenses related to their repatriation.

He further noted that Foreign Minister Rajji had requested a meeting with the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon to discuss the situation.

Rasamny also emphasized the importance of maintaining security at Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport following the recent disruptions. He highlighted that measures had been taken to ensure the safety of travelers, with a clear directive to keep the airport neutral and protect those passing through.

"Incidents like those that occurred yesterday are absolutely not allowed to happen again," Rasamny stated, underscoring the government's commitment to ensuring public safety and security. "We are working diligently to protect both citizens and the vital infrastructure of Lebanon."
