Israeli Army: Lebanon Operation to Be as "Short as Possible", No Plans to Enter Beirut

The Israeli army on Tuesday made it clear that its current ground operation in Lebanon is focused on dismantling Hezbollah's military infrastructure near the Israeli border, saying that it won't extend into Beirut.

Speaking in a news conference, Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated that Israeli forces would not enter Beirut or other urban areas in Lebanon, emphasizing the operation's limited geographic scope.

"We’re not going to Beirut. We’re not going to the cities in southern Lebanon," Hagari said. "Our focus is on the villages close to our border, where Hezbollah has established its infrastructure. We will do what is necessary to dismantle and demolish that infrastructure."

When asked about the duration of the ground operation, Hagari avoided providing specific timelines, citing security reasons. However, he indicated that the operation would be as brief as possible, lasting only "days or weeks," and stressed that it was a "limited and local" mission.
