Israeli Army Informs Netanyahu Conditions Are Right for Ceasefire in Lebanon

The Israeli army has informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that conditions are now favorable for a ceasefire in Lebanon, Israel's Channel 12 reported, citing a close aide to the premier.

According to the report, the Israeli army believes it has achieved its primary objectives during the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon. These include dismantling Hezbollah's infrastructure along the Israel-Lebanon border, neutralizing the threat of cross-border raids into northern Israel, and significantly depleting Hezbollah’s rocket arsenal.

The army's assessment reportedly emphasizes that the current situation presents an opportune moment for de-escalation and the pursuit of a ceasefire, which could stabilize the volatile region.

However, Channel 12 noted that contingency plans are in place should efforts to secure a ceasefire fail. If negotiations collapse, the Israeli army is reportedly prepared to escalate its military operations in Lebanon to further its strategic objectives.
